We are honored to recognize eight extraordinary people who have made significant contributions to regional sports. The 2017 Inland Northwest Sports Hall of Fame Induction will be Tuesday, October 17, at a special ceremony where each inductee will be highlighted for their accomplishments.
What makes a sporting event the talk of the town; the priority of the press; the buzz of the boardroom; the darling of the accounting department? In the Spokane, Washington area, it’s record-breaking statistics. Passionate planning. Breathtaking locales. Enthusiastic fans. Character-infused community. Versatile venues. Crowd-drawing details. Simple-as-pie access. And a brilliantly creative and intuitive team behind it all to make sure everyone wins, from the fans and local businesses to the athletes, teams, promoters, and sponsors. Ready to win? We’re ready to help make it happen.
The 2017 USA BMX Lumberjack Nationals is August 18-20. This race is the largest BMX event our city has ever hosted with nearly 1,500 riders and 2,500 spectators who will pack the Albi BMX Track at Dwight Merkel Sports Complex. This national race means 3,500 hotel overnight stays in Spokane and an estimated $2.3 million spent in Spokane.
Spokane Sports Commission is dedicated to the long-term growth of sports in our region. With growth, comes the need for a new sports facility. Visit the new Spokane Sportsplex website, hosted in partnership with Spokane Public Facilities District, showing the progress on this important project.
Sports don't just entertain. They improve communities. They drive economies. And no other organization brings sports events to the Inland Northwest like the Spokane Sports Commission. We are a nonprofit coalition of regional government; business and volunteers committed to recruiting and developing sports events. With these events come tourism dollars, entertainment and media attention attracting sports fans from around the world. Business wins. Kids win. Fans win, our region wins.
