Advance Sports Improvement Grants

Advance Sports is a unique grant program by Spokane Sports Commission designed to advance the economic and community development benefits associated with sports events, athletic performance, and sport-related activities in the Spokane region. Grants are designed to help overcome deficiencies and mitigate weaknesses in sport facilities or a sport organization’s ability to operate and manage events that match the mission of the Sports Commission. Financial grants are awarded from one of the following categories:

  • Athletic Facilities Development Grants support expenses to develop, equip, maintain, design, or improve essential community-based  “tournament quality” sport facilities in the greater Spokane community. Applicants must either own or have a long-term lease/use agreement. Facilities must be publically accessible and consistent in design and operation to support competitions that advance sports-related tourism.
  • Athletic Program Equipment/Program Development Grants support the purchase, replacement, or maintenance of sports-related equipment vital to the operation and management of competitive events. The application must meet the economic development mission of the Spokane Sports Commission to attract or expand events that drive sports-related tourism. Special cases of sports program and club development may also be considered.

"After receiving a grant from Spokane Sports Commission for millisecond-accurate timing with the Tag Heuer CP 545 system, along with the Alge start clock, we now have the best timing setup in the northwest for USSA sanctioned nordic skiing. This not only gives us an advantage in being selected for the current races series, but expands our opportunities for additional races as our infrastructure expands."
