The Spokane region has a variety of indoor and outdoor venues appropriate for all sizes of sports events. Here are just a few of the highlights:
Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena
The Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena is home to the Spokane Chiefs, a major junior team that plays in the Western Hockey League, and the Spokane Shock, an arena football team in the Arena Football League. The arena floor is 32,000 square feet and the 14-foot high concourse is a spacious 35,000 square feet with 16 luxury suites containing a total of 146 seats. In addition, there are six meeting rooms located at the Spokane Arena, totaling 10,050 square feet of meeting space.
The Spokane Arena has a capacity for:
• 12,638 for end-stage concerts
• 12,494 for center-stage shows
• 12,210 for basketball
• 10,759 for ice hockey
• 10,771 for arena football
• 6,951 for half-house shows
Spokane Convention Center
The Spokane Convention Center campus sits along the banks of the Spokane River and affords users beautiful views of the 100-acre Riverfront Park and direct access to the Centennial Trail. The campus includes the INB Performing Arts Center and the Spokane Convention Center, with the focal point being the new Exhibit Hall. The Exhibit Hall can accommodate thousands of people for trade shows, community events, sporting events, meetings and banquets.
A recent renovation of the Spokane Convention Center offers more than 164,307 square feet of user friendly meeting space. The facility includes 24 state of the art breakout rooms, including the Conference Theatre. The Conference Theatre is perfect for multimedia presentations for up to 270 people.
Recent renovation projects include a 25,310 square foot, fully finished ballroom that is divisible into three sections as well as three Bays that can be joined together to create a 13,730 square foot ballroom for meetings, trade shows or banquets. The INB Performing Arts Center, which is adjacent to the Spokane Convention Center, has a 2,700 seat auditorium with a built in stage, perfect for performances or plenary sessions.
For warm weather events, there is the Roof Deck, with a panoramic view of the river and Riverfront Park, ideal for up to 500 people for a stand-up reception. Other outdoor spaces include the Arbor, located right on the Centennial Trail, the grassy Plaza directly in front of the Exhibit Hall and the INB Performing Arts Center Breezeway.
Eagles Ice-A-Rena
Eagles Ice-A-Rena has two rinks, 80'X80' and 200'X 85' as well as a heated viewing area, snack bar, pro shop, and locker rooms. Activities at the Ice-A-Rena include recreation and competitive figure skating, youth and adult hockey, group learn to skate classes, pre-school classes, sessions for area school and church outings, public skating, hockey schools and clinics, summer roller hockey, and birthday parties. The second floor of the arena offers off-ice physical conditioning, ballet and jump training.
Since 1974 the Eagles Ice-A-Rena has operated as a true community rink serving the needs of all skaters and hockey players in the Spokane area. The Lilac City figure Skating Club was the driving force behind its construction and operation in the early years.
HUB Sports Center
The HUB Sports Center is a 66,500 sq. ft. multi-use sports facility that contains five regulation basketball courts and three large studios for dance, aerobics and classrooms. It is the 3rd largest indoor sports venue in the greater Spokane area behind the Spokane Arena and the McCarthey Athletic Center. The HUB has hosted several major sports tournaments and events including NAIA Volleyball Regional Tournament, Inland Northwest Collegiate Wrestling Invitational, USA Judo Youth & Scholastic National Championships, AAU Basketball Regional Tournaments, Pacific Northwest Qualifier Volleyball, Freeman High School basketball games, Lilac City Roller Derby, as well as other athletic events.
The Warehouse Athletic Facility
The Warehouse, located at 800 North Hamilton Street, in Spokane, is directly across the street from Gonzaga University's new basketball arena. The facility is connected to the campus by the Centennial Trail footbridge. The Warehouse hosts a number of Gonzaga University basketball and baseball programs and events. It features 5 full basketball courts, 6 regulation volleyball courts, an indoor baseball complex, and a fitness and dance studio. The Warehouse is available for a variety of large functions and events. The facility is amenable for use for fund-raisers, graduations, trade-shows, professional seminars and training programs, auctions, dances, and post graduation functions.
