Friday, May 17

6-8:30pm: Team Check-in and Practice Time

Join us for team check-in and open practice session at the Spokane Convention Center on May 18 & 19. Team Check-in will also be held at the same time at the Tournament Desk in the Convention Center.

Saturday, May 18

7–8am: Late Check-in

8am: Captain's Meeting

8:30am–4:30pm: Pool Play

Sunday, May 19

9am–5pm Tournament Play

Tournament Divisions

18s: 17s and 18s teams welcome, submit season record along with registration information for seeding purposes; strong 16s teams will be considered on exception basis, Net 8'

16s: 15s and 16s teams welcome, submit season record along with registration information for seeding purposes; strong 14s teams will be considered on exception basis, Net 8'

14s: 12s, 13s and 14s teams welcome, submit season record along with registration information for seeding purposes, Net 7'4"

Tournament Details

• Teams must comply with USAV medical release and roster requirements outlined during registration process. {I need to supply PDF forms to be used in as registration links}

• Five match guarantee. Adult R1 provided for each match; teams to provide remaining crew (R2/L1/L1/SK/LT.)

• Modified International Rules; USAV substitution limit of 12; libero can serve.

• Saturday pool play will be followed by double elimination bracket play on Sunday.

Tournament History

The tournament was created as opportunity to bring together boys teams from US and Canada, from around the Pacific NW and the western Canadian provinces, to enjoy high level competitive volleyball. In 2012 the team brought together teams from Alberta (6), British Columbia (8), Idaho (1) and Washington (3). Last year in the inaugural instance of the tournament, 16s, 17s, and 18s teams were encouraged to register. For 2013 however, all ages are welcome and will be seeded into 14s, 16s and 18s flights.

Spokane Convention Center

The brand new Spokane Convention Center, new home of the 2013 Border Smackdown Boys Volleyball Tournament, is located in the heart of downtown Spokane. It is walking distance to fine dining, pubs, hotels and a wide variety of shopping and entertainment.

Since the recent renovation of the Convention Center, it has hosted events such as PNQ, the region's largest volleyball tournament, Judo Jr. Nationals, U.S. Figure Skating National Championships, and more. Now's your chance to play in a state-of-the-art facility complete with concessions, and sport court.

Getting Here

Downtown Spokane is located only 7 minutes from the Airport. The DoubleTree Hilton provides a free shuttle from the airport to downtown.
