For the 7th year, the Evergreen Region of USA Volleyball is welcoming boys volleyball players, ages 12–18, to Spokane for the 2018 Border Smackdown International Boys Volleyball Tournament.

6pm–8:30pm: Team Check-in & College Night,
On-court clinic for players (8’ net); NAIA & NCAA recruiting process, seminar for parents

Saturday, May 19

8–9am: Team Late Check-in

9am: National Anthems

9am–5pm: Team Play

Sunday, May 20

8am–4pm: Team Play

How to Register

Registration Deadline: Monday, May 7.

Domestic U.S. Teams: Please email your USAV Webpoint registration roster along with payment to Roland Madany.

International Teams: Please download and complete the Foreign Summary Form for Team Participation.

For each rostered participant please submit the following no later than tournament check-in (Friday evening May 19), preferably sooner to expedite check in:

(a) signed copy of the USAV Foreign Participant Registration Form

(b) USAV's Consent for Medical Treatment & Release Form, signed by the player's parent or legal guardian.

For each rostered participant, the following will also be required at tournament check in:

(a) Photo ID (Driver's license, passport or comparable government issued document).

(b) copy of birth certificate with birth date

Tournament Divisions

  • 18s: 17s and 18s teams welcome, submit season record along with registration information for seeding purposes; strong 16s teams will be considered on exception basis, Net 8'
  • 16s: 15s and 16s teams welcome, submit season record along with registration information for seeding purposes; strong 14s teams will be considered on exception basis, Net 8'
  • 14s: 12s, 13s and 14s teams welcome, submit season record along with registration information for seeding purposes, Net 7'4"

Tournament Details

  • Teams must comply with USAV medical release and roster requirements outlined during registration process. {I need to supply PDF forms to be used in as registration links}
  • Seven match guarantee. Professional R1 provided for each match; teams to provide remaining crew (R2/L1/L1/SK/LT.)
  • Modified International Rules; summary sent to coaches, USAV substitution limit of 12; libero can serve.
  • Saturday pool play will either be a round robin for entire bracket or reseeded into second pool, in both cases followed by a single elimination bracket on Sunday.


Tournament History

Started in 2012, this tournament was created as opportunity to bring together boys teams from US and Canada, from around the Pacific NW and the western Canadian provinces, to enjoy high level competitive volleyball. All ages are welcome and will be placed in 14s, 16s and 18s brackets.
